More and more people looking for Santa Cruz printing are referred to Mpress Digital by satisfied clients. Mpress Digital owner Lee May and his staff are experts in the imaging business and have many years of experience in both pre-press and printing. In fact, Lee helped pioneer digital printing technology in Santa Cruz since the 1980s.
Our digital and offset printing presses give us the power to send your files directly to print with all the speed, precision and affordability of computer-to-press technology. Jobs are imaged directly on press, without film, in register, ready to print. Proofs are usually ready in less than two hours and printing can be completed quickly, often within 24 hours.
We also do large format printing - we can print your full color signs, vinyl signs, banners, posters, trade show displays, back-lit displays and more. You can expect the same quick turnaround and great prices Mpress is known for. Learn more about our large format printing capabilities.
Lee's experience in graphics and printing goes back to his college days at UC Davis. While he was working on a BS degree in Renewable Natural Resources, he ran the school daily newspaper. After
graduation he became manager at the local Davis paper and then moved on to a job at the San Jose Mercury News.
In 1977, Lee opened Metro Type and Design in Soquel which became the largest typesetting and design business on the Central Coast. He embraced the rapidly changing technology in printing throughout the 80's and 90's, and incorporated technologically-advanced equipment into his shop, which he ran until the mid-1990's.
Lee shared his expertise in printing as a consultant for a few years and then started Mpress Digital in 1999. He assembled a unique combination of cutting-edge equipment to provide a range of high quality, quick turnaround printing services. With his background in environmental studies, Lee has always sought out the best ways to operate his business with a small energy footprint and use the most environmentally-friendly inks and paper.
"Santa Cruz is a wonderful community of businesses and organizations working to build something for themselves and make the world a better place. What I find most rewarding about my work is supporting these organizations, and getting to know my customers," said Lee.
Lee is a board member of Jacob's Heart Children's Cancer Services, and a former board member of the Santa Cruz Symphony. He enjoys participating in volunteer work and is an avid bicyclist.
